| About Right Angle Performance |
|
Right Angle Performance is a new paddle sport service company in Vancouver which is owned and operated by Olympian and 2007 World Champion dragon boat coach and paddler, Kamini Jain. Its mandate is to provide teams, individuals and coaches with technical, tactical and training information for dragon boat, outrigger canoe, surfski and kayak racing. This is delivered using the skills Kamini has learned and created during her 23 years of competitive paddling experience which included competing in the 2000 and 2004 Olympic finals in kayak, coaching False Creek Racing Canoe Club to 4 gold medals at the 2006 World Club Crew Championships in the Men’s and Mixed categories and coaching the same crews to gold and silver medals at the 2007 World Championships. The Right Angle Performance Coaching Team has been carefully selected to provide clients with coaches that are on their game themselves, as both athletes and coaches. It is important to Kamini that athletes coached by R.A.P. are instructed in a similar technical model and coaching style, regardless of the coach. With this in mind, all coaches are, or have recently been, both athletes and teammates of hers. This ensures that they are aware of her presentation style and technical aims and can, with their own personal style, share similar information. No style is the one-and-only way to move a boat and a comprehensive understanding of the elements of style and technique, how these elements evolve as an athlete develops, and how the variety of styles seen in the competitive world of paddling compare and contrast will set R.A.P. coaches apart as they strive to move paddlers, regardless of their current style, toward improved performance. Kamini feels fortunate to welcome Patti Lawson and Erica McArthur to the R.A.P. coaching team. |
