How to Plan On-Water Training to Suit Your Goals…and Succeed

A thoughtfully designed training program creates greater motivation, better health and faster boat speeds. Whether your goals encompass short or long races, singles or team events, racing or recreation, preparing a training program need not be complex, but it is detailed. Whether you are following a program written by someone else, or wanting to learn to write your own, understanding the aims of different training tactics is important. In this three-part on-line course, Kamini will discuss the facets to consider when preparing a program for yourself or your athletes, or executing one already provided by your coach.
Learn about key training principles and what components to consider when building a program. Components like technique, health, mental skills, training behaviours, performance tactics and, of course, fitness. Developing a program is like doing a puzzle: it has a lot of parts and can seem complicated the first time but each time it gets simpler and, as you improve, you can add more pieces. (A puzzle reference seemed appropriate for a pandemic holiday season.)
This course will be offered two times to suit different schedules and time zones and recordings will be available to all participants for a limited time after each. Attendees can attend whichever time they wish each session.
Barring any technical difficulties causing a delay in production, recordings will be available for the Sunday-Tuesday following each seminar. We request that recordings are not shared with non-participants as continued enrollment is required for us to continue offering these courses. Extensions of access time will be granted in most cases on request, if received before February 7.
We will not be covering training for races longer than 3 hours, exempting outrigger change races.
